Purple Pride reunion honors coach

On June 10 the Glenwood Purple Pride Soccer Club held its 20th reunion for all former members of this outstanding girl’s soccer club. As part of this celebration they also honored one of their former coaches who has been diagnosed with cancer. I am that coach, and I wish to express to this wonderful group of girls my heartfelt thank-you for making that day one of the best of my life. Scott Fifer, the other coach of the team, and I formed a relationship with this group of girls over the course of 10 years. We started out as an 8 and under coed team and developed this group into the 18 and under Women’s Denver Premier Club champion team for the fall of 1996. This was accomplished by many hours of hard work and dedication by this talented group of girls. Those same girls used those developed skills to bring together all the members of Purple Pride for a day I will never forget. I would like to especially thank the following people for making this day a reality: Scott Fifer (coaching partner and brother who is always there for me), Emily Fifer (the team’s only college Division 1 player), Ashley Moffatt (she will always be Nadon to me), Angie (Onorofskie) Anderson, and Katy Nardecchia.

I cannot begin to express what this outpouring of love means to me. I will never forget that day and all of you are in my heart forever.
