Louisa Schwarz’s tree lit again

A holiday thank-you to Commissioner Tom Jankovsky, County Manager Kevin Batchelder and crew for lighting the tree at 11th and Grand.

The tree was planted 85 years ago in memory of a beloved Glenwood woman named Mrs. Louisa Schwarz. She welcomed all the town children into her home on Ninth and Pitkin every December for homemade cookies and a chance to hear the Christmas tree music box she brought from Germany. She and her husband lost their only child, a little girl, at the age of 3, but they loved all of Glenwood’s little ones like their own.

It’s so nice to see lights on her tree again this year.
