Annual Blessing of the Animals takes place Saturday at CARE
Colorado Animal Rescue and Two Rivers Unitarian Universalists present the fifth annual Blessing of the Animals from 10:30 a.m.–noon Saturday at CARE, 2801 County Road 144 (across from Colorado Mountain College, Spring Valley).
This popular event includes a special blessing ceremony where the community can gather to honor and remember the dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, chickens, reptiles, wildlife and other special critters that have enriched humans’ lives.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their crated feline friends or well-socialized, leashed dogs. Other pets or pets’ photos also are welcome. The Blessing of the Animals will include live music, breakfast food and fun.
This event also will honor shelter animals in need of adoption that are current residents at CARE, plus service animals, including Frasier the friendly courthouse dog who works at River Bridge Regional Center and accompanies children to family court appearances. Attendees always are invited in to visit with the animals.
Suggested donations include small bags of cat and dogs foods, canned kitten food and cash contributions.
The event takes place outside, rain or shine. Attendees should dress for anticipated fall weather conditions.

The town would join Aspen and Glenwood Springs in prohibiting flavored tobacco sales and licensing retailers.
