Another peeping incident reported at the Community Center
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Someone tried to take a picture of a woman showering at the Glenwood Springs Community Center for the second time this month, police said.
Glenwood Springs Police Lt. Bill Kimminau said there haven’t been any other similar incidents reported besides the two at the Community Center. A message left at the Community Center wasn’t returned Friday during office hours.
The incident occurred around 7 a.m. on Wednesday. A woman showering in the women’s locker room told police she saw a hand holding a camera under a shower stall, Kimminau said.
She didn’t know whether a picture had been taken or not. She said she was startled and kicked at the camera. Then the hand disappeared, Kimminau said.
He said the incident was “very similar” to the May 5 one when someone tried to photograph a woman who was toweling off from a shower in the locker room. That happened around 7:55 a.m. The woman in that situation told police she believed she saw a Hispanic man’s hand reach under the shower stall with a camera. On Wednesday, there was even less of a description, Kimminau said.
He believes there’s a good chance it’s the same person.
“It sounds pretty much identical,” he said. “It just sounds too similar to the other one not to be the same person.”
At the time of the first incident, police interviewed someone who may have seen the suspect standing outside the locker room entrance. That person was unable to match the suspect with a photograph of a Community Center member thought to be a possible suspect, police said.
This time, there wasn’t anyone else who may have seen the suspect, Kimminau said.
Kimminau said he believes there has been discussion about installing video cameras to monitor the entrances to the locker rooms.
“The biggest thing for anybody is just be aware of your surroundings and the people around you,” he said.
