Anticipation grows for Ag Day

NEW CASTLE ” This year’s Annual Ag Day will be at the New Castle Community Center at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30.

A workshop is planned with several speakers and presentations. Lunch will be provided.

Some of the presenters will include Dan Bean, of the Palisade Insectary, who will talk about the tamarisk beetle and how it can be used to help eradicate tamarisk; Tom Lauridson of the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, who will speak about how growers can benefit from carbon credits; the Colorado Division of Wildlife, which will have a presentation on cost-share programs for landowners and release of game birds; and EnCana’s Midstream Reclamation Team, which will discuss pipe reclamation.

Other topics will include new state rules on premise identification, the new fire management plan for Burning Mountains Fire Protection District, and the noxious weed cost-share program.
