The Rifle Creek Gap Opener is slated for May 1-2 at Rifle Creek Golf Course. Teams of two will play a best-ball format on the first day and a Chapman format on the second day. Tee times start at 8:30 a.m.
The season-opening tournament, which costs $170 per team to enter, will be flighted by low handicap and there will be net and gross payoffs for each flight. Every player receives a $10 gift certificate. Carts are available for $32 per team.

Jason Perrin smacked a hole-in-one at Ranch at Roaring Fork Golf Course on Tuesday. Perrin aced the seventh hole.
Registration is now open for the 11th Annual Mother’s Day Mile, which is scheduled for May 9 at 1 p.m.
The one-mile race, sponsored by Glenwood Medical Associates, is a fundraiser for the Advocate Safehouse Project. Pre-registrants will receive an eco-friendly, reusable bag with race goodies.
All participants receive a rose at the finish line, homemade apple pie and a chance to win age-group awards from the Imani Workshop in Eldoret, Kenya. Also, a gift basket silent auction will be held under the big tent.
Pre-registration can be done in person at Glenwood Medical Associates (located at 1830 Blake Ave.) and at U.S. Bank at the corner of Eighth Street and Grand Avenue.

The event needs people to help in the following areas: finish line help, computer data entry, goody bag assembly, apple pie bakers, race course marshals, registration staff, green team, kid activity supervision and race-day clean-up.

The MS 5K Run takes place May 15 at the No Name rest area at 8 a.m. A pancake breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m.
Entertainment will be provided by Defiance Stringband, Cookie the Clown, Glenwood Springs High School’s cheerleaders, Glenwood Percussion Ensemble and more.
