Old Snowmass’ Alex Kelloff announced on Wednesday he will run for U.S. Congress.

The fourth-generation Coloradan and co-founder of Armada Skis formally entered on Tuesday into the race for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District. He will run as a Democrat in the November 2026 election.

“Everything that holds this country together — honor, integrity, common sense, the rule of law, mutual respect — is under attack,” Kelloff said in a press release. “Donald Trump and his followers, including Lauren Boebert and her successor, Jeff Hurd, are tearing at the fabric of our democracy and undermining the very institutions that protect our freedoms. I can’t sit back and watch it happen.”

U.S. Rep. Jeff Hurd, R-Grand Junction, was elected November 2024 to represent Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, following two terms from U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Rifle, who now represents the state’s 4th Congressional District.

“I’m running for Congress because I’m ready to lead and determined to make a difference,” Kelloff said in the release. “I believe in stepping up when the moment calls for it — and that moment is now.”

According to the release, his core campaign priorities include:

  • Strengthening the economy and creating jobs
  • Safeguarding Social Security and Medicare for seniors
  • Improving educational opportunities
  • Protecting public lands and water resources
  • Strengthening national defense and American leadership — standing with allies, defending democracy at home and abroad, and honoring our veterans
  • Upholding the rule of law and democratic values

“There’s a growing energy out there for change due to the chaos of the Trump administration and the dysfunction of the last 100 days,” said Kelloff’s Campaign Chairman and Senior Advisor Eric Lodal, “where people know the country’s off course, and they’re hungry to be part of fixing it. They just don’t know how.

“There’s a lack of leadership nationwide, and that’s the void Alex is stepping into — not with slogans but with serious ideas and the guts to get things done. He knows the moment, and he’s ready to meet it,” he added.

Kelloff’s family settled in Trinidad, Colorado, around 1897, according to the release. His grandfather worked in the coal mines near Aguilar, his dad grew up in the San Luis Valley, and his mom attended high school in Grand Junction. His parents married almost 60 years ago in Aspen.

Apart from co-founding Armada Skis, he most recently serves as a partner and member of the Investment Committee at SDC Capital Partners, a global digital infrastructure investment company. Prior to his time with SDC, he worked at a number of other financial firms, including Booz Allen Hamilton.
