Arrests made at under-aged drinking party
GLENWOOD SPRINGS – Two men were taken to jail and several people were cited over the weekend, after police broke up what Glenwood Springs Police Chief Terry Wilson said was the latest in a rash of underaged drinking parties.
Officers were twice called for a noise complaint in the 1000 block of Cooper Avenue, once just before midnight Friday and again about 2 a.m. Saturday.
The second time led to more than 20 minors, ranging in age from 18 to 20, being cited for illegal underaged possession and consumption of alcohol.
Two men, Devin N. Podbevsek and Edwin Gonzalez II, both age 20, were also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They were arrested and taken to the Garfield County Jail, according to police reports.
“We’ve had several of these over the last four or five months,” Wilson said. “It’s getting to be rather disappointing.”
Most of the parties end up being at residences, he said. A large underaged drinking party on New Year’s Eve at a Glenwood residence also led to multiple arrests and citations.
Two people were also taken to Valley View Hospital in that incident after they had apparently drank too much. A police officer also received minor injuries in a scuffle with one of the party-goers.
