Acrylic painter Terry Fontaine and ceramist Nancy Barbour are hosting a joint show at the Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities this month. An opening reception for Paint & Pots will kick off tonight, from 6-8 at CCAH, 645 Main St.

Local art group, the Stomparillaz, are hosting an opening for the Stomparillaz Art Show from 6-9 tonight at the Studio for Art + Works, 978 Euclid Ave. in Carbondale. The exhibit will feature Max Coopers paint and bicycle creations as well as work from the late Damon J. Wallick and other Stomparillaz.

The Glenwood Springs Art Guild will have its monthly membership meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1630 Grand Ave., in Glenwood Springs. The meeting will open with a free art demonstration by Esther Moolick entitled, Painting With Leftovers, with refreshments and a short meeting to follow at 8 p.m. All art guild members and guests are welcome.

Salsa Night and Carbondale Clay National IV at Carbondale Clay Center will be held tonight. The gallery reception begins at 6 p.m. and the Salsa Street Dance will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m.Carbondale Clay Center will block off the street (a la Cajun Clay) and present an evening of salsa dancing facilitated by local instructors Tere and Ricardo Hernandez. A cash bar with no cover charge will be offered; all bar proceeds directly support the Clay Center. Open to all dancers, fans and art-lovers. Carbondale Clay National IV opens in the Clay Center Gallery from 6-8 p.m. Exhibition dates are June 2nd-30th. This is a nationally-juried exhibition of ceramic art.

In Honor, In Memory…A Reminder of Individual Sacrifice and the Cost of War, features nearly 1,000 memorial vases, each embossed with a name, age, service branch insignia and date of death of an American soldier killed in Iraq. The gallery installation by Glenwood Springs artist Annette Roberts-Gray is on view at the CMC Gallery on Grand Ave. at 9th St. It has been extended through Wednesday, June 11.

Fresh Perspectives is now on display at the Aspen Chapel Gallery. The exhibition is the 122th consecutive show since the gallery opened in June 1985. It was curated by Kathy Honea. Participating artists include Kathy Honea, Bill Gruenberg, Alicia Matesaz de las Heras, Brad Reed Nelson, Susan Olsen, Marina Romanov, Melanie Roschko, Jessica Salet, Lloyd Schermer, and Marty Schlein. The show will run through July 20.

The Artists Mercantile is featuring local photographer Craig Silberman this month. Silberman specializes in colorful outdoor pictures of the Roaring Fork and Crysyal River valleys. A reception for his work will be held on Friday, June 13 at the gallery, 720 Cooper Ave. in Glenwood Springs.
