Ashley E. Sweeney

Ashley E. Sweeney died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Little Grand Canyon in Jackson County, Ill. She was 16.

Ashley was born June 5, 1985, in Deltona, Fla., to James and Jacqueline Gray Sweeney. She was a sophomore at Brehm Preparatory School in Carbondale, Ill. She participated in Brehm Works, Brehm Chronicles, the International Travel Club, the Improv Group, the Brehm basketball team, and was involved in drama. She was an avid photographer, skier, snowboarder, horseback rider and hiker.

She is survived by her parents, of Glenwood Springs; a brother, James Sweeney of Glenwood Springs; maternal grandparents George and Mildred Gray of Ocala, Fla.; paternal grandparents James and Nancy Sweeney of St. Petersburg, Fla.; paternal uncle Jeffrey Sweeney; maternal uncles David Gray, James Gray and Steve Gray; maternal aunts Carol Morris and Kathy Moore; and 11 cousins.



The Sweeney family will host an informal gathering honoring Ashley, from 4:30-6 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. Come share letters, cards, pictures and thoughts. A potluck will immediately follow.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at Walker Funeral Home in Carbondale, Ill., with visitation preceding from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Memorial contributions may be made to the Brehm Preparatory School, 1245 E. Grand Ave., Carbondale, IL 62901.
