The Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club is inviting artists from ages 3 to 93 to take part in the first-ever public Audi Ajax Cup poster contest.
This beloved, winter tradition has never before included the broader community to help shape the visual identity of AVSC’s flagship fundraising event.
“We are super excited,” said Xanthe Demas, AVSC’s director of marketing and communications. “This is the first time we have opened up the poster competition to the public. We are really excited to see what our community can bring to the table. The Ajax Cup is a super important event for AVSC and the ski racing community of the valley. We want to capture the magic of the event, as well as Aspen’s rich ski racing history.”
Submissions are open through 5 p.m., June 15, and the winning design will become the official poster for the 2025 Audi Ajax Cup. The winning artist will receive two tickets to the event and be included in AVSC’s storied legacy of fostering winter sports in the Roaring Fork Valley.
“We want the posters to capture the love and passion the community has for the ski racing history and legacy,” Demas said. “The event is virtually open to anyone, and we are keeping things very loose in terms of the submission guidelines because we want to see the wide range of creativity that is within the community.”
This year’s contest theme calls for a vintage or throwback aesthetic, and entries must feature at least one ski racer and convey a “sense of place” — a nod to the gondolas, peaks, and downtown scenes that define Aspen.
“We are giving extra points for a vintage vibe. We love a good old throwback, but really, we are open to any sort of style,” Demas said, adding that AVSC is eager to see a broad spectrum of artistic media and interpretations.
Posters should be digital, measuring 36 inches wide by 48 inches tall and must include a 2-inch border and the event title: AUDI AJAX CUP.
Artists can submit photographs of physical works, as long as they meet the specified resolution and size requirements.
Entries will be judged on originality, artistic merit, and how well they reflect Aspen’s ski racing heritage and AVSC’s deep community roots.
Since 1937, AVSC has supported thousands of local youth through its ski and snowboard programs. Today, the nonprofit serves more than 3,000 athletes each year, regardless of ability or financial status.
“We’re thrilled to invite the community into the heart of our event this year,” said Ash Farrington, AVSC’s stewardship director. “This is a chance for people of all ages to help us celebrate ski racing, creativity, and Aspen’s vibrant culture in a new and exciting way.”
Artists can submit their work by emailing Farrington at afarrington@teamavsc.org with the subject line: “AUDI AJAX CUP POSTER SUBMISSION.” Accepted file types include PDF, JPG, PNG, TIFF, PSD, AI, and INDD.
