Assailants stab Glenwood man

A Glenwood Springs man was stabbed last week at his West Glenwood home, police said. The stabbing reportedly occurred during a home invasion early Tuesday morning that was committed by multiple people at around 4 a.m. in the mobile home park behind the Oasis Bar and Grill on Highway 6 & 24, Glenwood Springs police chief Terry Wilson said. The victim suffered five stab wounds to the abdomen, Wilson said. Wilson declined to release the victims name, but he said the man was expected to recover. It was an extremely unusual crime for this valley, Wilson said. In speaking with several residents of the home, it appears someone forced entry into the home in the early-morning hours with an apparent motive to rob the place.Aside from saying there were five people in the residence, Wilson declined to give specifics on the incident because the case is under investigation. The scene was investigated by our detectives and by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, he said. They processed the crime scene. If caught, the assailant faces a list of charges, including first-degree assault, felony menacing and aggravated robbery. There are no suspects at this time, Wilson said.
