Author to relate Midland railroad lore

Earl Elmont, a Fryingpan Valley native, will be the featured speaker at the Friday, March 14, meeting of the Western Colorado Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.

Elmont, who now lives in Salt Lake City, has researched the Colorado Midland Railroad, which wound down the Fryingpan River on its way to Aspen and Salt Lake City. He’ll present a slide show and relate stories about the railroad from his soon-to-be-published book, “From the Fryingpan Into the Fire.” The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Roaring Fork School District office, 14th and Grand, in Glenwood Springs.
