GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – Authorities are seeking more information regarding the murder of a 38-year-old Aurora woman.

Janine Ann Johler’s dismembered body was found in an apple orchard, just off Interstate 70 and Canyon Creek Road, on June 12. A teenage orchard worker found Johler’s remains in a bag that may have been torn open by animals.

Authorities are asking anyone with any information regarding the case to contact either Garfield County Sheriff’s Office at (970) 945-0453, Garfield County Crime Stoppers at (970) 945-0101, or Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867. People with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in the crime can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers and could receive an award of up to $1,000.

Johler’s body was identified on June 19. Johler was last seen at home in Aurora on May 1, and according to a 9NEWS report at the time of her disappearance, the Aurora Police described her as having a diminished mental capacity.

According to a Denver Post article, Johler had filed three restraining order requests against Thomas Gordan Burns, 51. The article stated that according to court records Burns, who has a lengthy arrest record dating back to 1994, was in jail at the time Johler was last seen.

The Denver Post article also stated that Burns has been in the Arapahoe County Jail since Jan. 18 on numerous charges including domestic violence.

Johler obtained a permanent restraining order against Burns on April 25, 2008. Nine days later, he was charged in Aurora with violating a restraining order, kidnapping, false imprisonment, assault and domestic violence. Most of the charges were dismissed in a plea deal, the article stated.

Burns is currently being held in the Arapahoe County Jail on $310,000 bond.
