Bands lost venues because of audience

Dear Editor,I feel I must answer the letter from “Defiance news.” It is my opinion that it is not the music type that gets these places shut down. It is the behavior of the people who the shows are put on for. The facts of the shutdown of the gigs at the Cyber Cafe is that there were hundreds of empty liquor bottles and beer cans found in the parking lot the morning after E.O.S. & Antibuse played, despite the signs saying “Absolutely No Alcohol” and the efforts of five security persons. We are less than 50 feet from a liquor store and put the owner of that store at risk of losing her business. That’s not fair to her, and the law was broken. For this infraction I offer my personal apology to the owner of the liquor store and to the people of the community. I think we can still have “metal” shows for the young people if we have the right place and the people who attend can behave. I am going to again try, once more, to organize a place and book bands to play there. I have found a place and am working to get permission to do shows there. I will get this done, and there will once again be shows. Whether or not we get to keep this new venue will be up to the people and how the respect they rules and laws.Jim HandzusSip & Surf Cyber CafeRifle
