Barbara Ann Spuhler passed away peacefully at Columbine House in Carbondale on Dec. 24, 2009.

She was born Sept. 1, 1950 in Oceanside, Calif. to Marjorie Collins and Raymond H. ‘Hap’ Spuhler. Barbara lived with her parents until 1996. After moving with her family to Albuquerque, she participated in the AR sheltered workshop for 12 years, enjoying her friends and staff there. Her sense of humor and care for others was always evident. She especially loved the various pets that she shared with her family. She was an enthusiastic supporter of her father’s ball teams at George Mason University, in Virginia, and a devoted fan of TV comedies.

Barbara became a Mountain Valley Developmental Services client in 1997. The care and compassion of Mountain Valley staff enriched her life, giving her the opportunity of grow as her own person.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her brother, Bob (Jaci) Spuhler, nephew, Robert Spuhler and niece, Jessica (David) Spuhler-Popiel.

Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery, along side her parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Developmental Services.
