Barry Gessele

Post Independent
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

Barry Gessele, known to most as “Bear,” passed away on Nov. 16 after suffering an aneurysm. He lived his life by his own terms, with a quick comeback always ready and quite possibly the lyrics to every single hit song from the ’60s and ’70s on the tip of his tongue.

Bear made his living working alongside his brother Kelly, nephew Riley and niece Greta and his friends at Independence Environmental Services; he made his life fulfilling as an expert golfer and helping others with his skills in tile and flooring. He recently donated his work to the floors and tile work at the Pregnancy Resource Center.

Barry went on ahead of his mom Bev Gessele; brothers Tracy and Kelly; sisters Penny and Jody and their families, including his newest grandnephew Blair bear. An open house for a celebration of Barry’s life will be at the Gessele home at 17607 Hwy 82, Carbondale on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 4-6 p.m.
