Bartels leads Rifle at state golf tourney

Danny Bartels’ 79 led a Rifle High School trio at the Class 4A boys golf state tournament on Monday.

The Bears senior sits at 28th place in the 84-golfer field after the first of two rounds. Tournament play resumes this morning at Cobble Creek Golf Course in Montrose.

Triston Quigley, also a senior, finished the first day a few strokes back of Bartels. He carded an 82 and currently sits in 44th place.



Junior Ty Caron opened state with an 87 on the par-72 course. He’s currently in 64th place.

Pueblo Centennial’s Jacob Allenback is currently sitting atop the state field. His 4-under 68 led a trio tied for second place. Silver Creek’s Andrew Howe, Summit’s Dylan Mitchell and Pueblo West’s Glenn Workman all carded 71s on Monday.
