GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” Get ready, get set, draw!

Valley View Hospital is gearing up for its annual community health fair for all those 18 and over, April 17 in Glenwood Springs and April 24 in New Castle.

But for those who want to avoid the lines that can sometimes accompany health fair testing, the hospital is offering a “pre-draw” blood draw from 7-10 a.m. this Saturday, April 3, at the Valley View Cancer Center.

Three tests will be offered during the pre-draw:

– Blood chemistry analysis for $30

– Prostate specific antigen for $25

– Colorectal kit for $5

The blood chemistry analysis includes tests for cholesterol, cardiac risk, blood sugar, kidney and liver function. The PSA is for men and is a prostate cancer indicator, and the colorectal kit is a take-home kit.

Everyone should fast for 12 hours prior to the screenings, except diabetics. Participants should drink lots of water, and continue taking prescribed medications as directed.

The pre-draw will be held at the Glenwood Medical Associates building, 1830 Blake Ave., Suite 205, Glenwood, across 19th Street from the hospital. Participants are asked to enter from the upper east parking lot behind the GMA building.
