Ben passed away on Jan. 13, 2011 in Glenwood Springs. He was 75.He was born in Pueblo to Benjamin and Rosie Mae Russell on April 26, 1935.Ben graduated from Centennial H.S. in Pueblo in 1953 then went on to attend Southern Colorado Community College where he earned a degree in accounting. In 1971 he was employed by Colorado Mountain College as Head Purchasing Agent. He retired from the school and opened Ben E. Russell Accounting & Tax Planning.He was an active bowler all of his life and in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s pursued a career as a professional bowler; he was certified as a lane inspector by the American Bowling Congress. He was very active with the Colorado Bowling Association, including serving a term as its president and several as its vice president.Ben was an active member and Lodge Treasurer for several years of the BPOE in Glenwood Springs. Ben was always happiest when he was able to help anyone in need and always found a way to smile through good and bad times even through ill health. His passing will leave a void in the many lives that he touched.Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Russell in 1984.He is survived by his daughter, Andrea; sons, Dennis, David, Jay and Jeremy; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.Please join us for a celebration of Ben’s life at the Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge on Saturday June 25 at 4p.m. A light meal will be served following a short memorial service.
