Bette Smith passed away Aug. 17, 2006 at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs.Bette Ellen Smith was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Los Angeles, to Carl E. and Alice B. (Baker) Birdsall. She had been a resident of the Roaring Fork Valley area for 20 years.She is survived by daughters Pamela Baldwin of Carbondale and Deborah Puente of Hawaii; sisters Ruth Montgomery and Dorothy Hooper, both of Oceanside, Calif.; grandchildren Ken, Robert, Jonathan and Jeremy Baldwin, and Rick Puente; great-grandchildren Hayden, Piper, Malakai, Sky and Taze Baldwin and Vicky Puente.A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday Sept. 3, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 0097 Lions Ridge Rd., Carbondale. Cremation has already taken place.Farnum-Holt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
