Betty Joyce Waite

Betty Joyce Waite of Marble died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, in her home. She was 68.

A memorial service will be held in May 2004 by Island Lake.

She was born Oct. 2, 1935, in St. Louis, Mo., to Kenneth and Evelyn Williams.

She moved to Marble in 1969 with her husband, Art, and their children, and she bonded with the land and home that would be her devotion for the following 35 years.

Ms. Waite was best known as the owner and baker for the Cidera Bake Shop for the past 17 years.

She lived many years in her Marble homestead with her family nearby.

She loved the flowers, trees, wildlife, water, rocks and mountains around her home.

She was fiercely independent, charmingly private and generously thoughtful.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Ted Churchill of Rifle; by sons and daughter-in-law Paul Wahlbrink, and Wade and Kristin Wahlbrink, all of Marble; by grandsons Michael Churchill and Landon Churchill; by granddaughters Jordon Churchill and Taylor Churchill; and by a brother Allan Williams, and his family, of Florida.

To her credit, Ms. Waite had a great number of friends who will dearly miss her.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that friends plant a tree in remembrance of her this spring.
