Glenwood Springs High School’s climbing program hosted a competition at Colorado Mountain College’s Spring Valley campus on Friday night.

A growing number of schools in Colorado are beginning to offer climbing as a sport, as evidenced by the strong turnout at CMC.

Coal Ridge, Colorado Rocky Mountain School, Yampah, Montrose and Ouray/Ridgway joined Glenwood’s team for its competition.

Glenwood’s top finishers were Jenna Pearce and Jessica Gerstner, who finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the intermediate female category.

Glenwood has more than 40 students involved in its climbing program.
