Bike and auto show to benefit children’s hospitals

A day of family fun is on the agenda at the Rifle Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot Sunday.It will also benefit children’s hospitals.The store will host the annual Children’s Miracle Network Bike and Auto Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bike and auto displays will be featured, plus a variety of children-friendly activities, including a climbing wall, dunk tank, face painting and a race car simulator. There will also be a children’s mini car race and remote control car race, and fire trucks from around Garfield County will be on display. Those who wish to show their bikes or autos at the event should register for free in the parking lot at 10 a.m. For $1, participants can vote for the best car or bike. The vehicle garnering the most votes gets a prize. Activities will cost between $1 and $4, and all proceeds will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.The network is a non-profit organization helping children’s hospitals nationwide. “I think more than ever we need to be aware of our children,” said Lu Anne Herman, event organizer and member of the Children’s Miracle Network committee at the Rifle Wal-Mart. “This effects children in all communities, including our community.”
