Bike wreck thanks

Dear Editor,

I would like to express my gratitude to the people and organizations who aided in my rescue and medical treatment after a fairly serious mountain bike accident on the Forest Hollow Trail section of Lookout Mountain. If you’ve never had to call 911 or have never needed Search and Rescue or ER treatment (as I hadn’t prior to Saturday, Aug. 3), then you may not realize what a tremendous team of people Glenwood Springs has in place.

I am very grateful for their expertise and kindness. Thank you Bill Inverso, for biking to my rescue and directing the others to our location. Your positive attitude and encouragement were a God-send. Thank you to the EMTs from Battalion 51 and the Search and Rescue team for your gentle and expert treatment of my injuries, and for the smooth ride down the mountain. Thank you Laurie Breda for your calming encouragement and support while we waited. Sorry I ruined our great ride. Thank you to the staff at Valley View Hospital for excellent ER care and nursing the following day. Thank you Dr. Haltom for being ready and waiting for me when I arrived at the ER and putting my smile back together as best as was possible. Your continued treatment, concern, and surgical skills, are greatly appreciated. Also, to my dad and the many great friends I am so fortunate to have: your cards, gifts, flowers, visits, prayers, and positive energy have helped me start moving and smiling again!
