BLM seeks comment on Noble Energy plans to drill near Rulison

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” The U.S. Bureau of Land Management wants to know how the public feels about plans by Noble Energy to drill dozens of new wells from five well pads in the Cache Creek and Cottonwood Creek drainages, roughly five miles south of Rulison in western Garfield County.

The company’s Cache Creek Master Development Plan, on file at the BLM’s Glenwood Springs office, outlines a proposal to develop a total of 79 new wells during the next two to three years. The pads would be located on private land, but directional drilling would reach into gas deposits beneath federal as well as private land.

The proposal calls for construction of three-tenths of a mile of road and pipeline on U.S. Forest Service lands.

The BLM and the USFS will prepare environmental assessment documents on the plan, and are asking the public to submit comments by June 8 for inclusion in the assessment process.

Written comments and questions should be directed to the Glenwood Springs Energy Office at 2425 S. Grand Ave., Suite 101, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601. Electronic comments may be submitted to gsfomail@co.blm.gov. Copies of the master development plan further detailing the proposed oil and gas development are available for review at the BLM Glenwood Springs Energy Office.

Digital copies of the plan and project map are available at http://www.blm.gov/ co/st/en/fo/gsfo/GSFO_MasterPlans OfDevelopment.html.
