BLM to host Thursday meeting

GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” The Bureau of Land Management’s Northwest Resource Advisory Council will conduct a meeting on Thursday at the Glenwood Springs Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Road.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Public comment periods are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Topics to be considered at the meeting will include reports from northwest Colorado BLM field offices, the draft environmental impact statement on commercial oil shale leasing, and updates on the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission’s new rulemaking.

Randy Udall will talk on “The Role of Renewables in the New Energy Economy.” The meeting will also include Resource Management Plan subgroup updates.

The Northwest RAC is one of three advisory councils to the BLM in Colorado. It is made up of 15 members appointed by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior. Individuals serving in each RAC represent a broad range of public land interests, including environmental, local government and commercial activity.

The Northwest RAC advises the Grand Junction, White River, Little Snake, Kremmling and Glenwood Springs BLM field offices.
