Body found along river, foul play not suspected

Staff Report

Foul play is not suspected in the death of an adult male whose body was discovered west of Parachute Saturday afternoon, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department.

“We need to confirm his identity,” said sheriff’s department spokesperson Ron VanMeter. “We think he was someone from the area.”

VanMeter said two people who were floating the Colorado River discovered the body along the river near the Una Bridge.

Garfield County’s deputy coroner responded to the scene and authorized moving the body to Grand Junction for an autopsy.

The autopsy results were not available on Monday, and the case is still under investigation.
