GLENWOOD SPRINGS – A 47-year-old man was found dead late Thursday morning at the base of Hanging Lake Trail in Glenwood Canyon.
Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario said the man apparently suffered a heart attack. He was visiting from Florida.
Glenwood Springs Fire Department personnel were dispatched around 11:30 a.m. Thursday to a call of an unconscious male and arrived at the scene minutes later.
Personnel administered CPR, but efforts to revive the man were unsuccessful, Glenwood Springs fire chief Mike Piper said.
“He may have been down for a while, we don’t know,” he said.
The identity and hometown of the man was not released Thursday, pending notification of his family.
