Body found in Colorado River
Garfield County Search and Rescue recovered a body in the Colorado River near the Riverbend subdivision, near New Castle, according to Glenwood Springs police chief Terry Wilson.
The body of an adult male had been in the river for a while, Wilson said, but he expected investigators to identify the person by today.
“The detectives and coroners are working to make the identification, which will lead to notification of the family,” Wilson said.
An autopsy is set for this afternoon, he added.
He said the body may be connected to a case the police department has been working on.
Wilson said the police department was called about the body around 3 p.m., after it was recovered.
“We don’t know how the body was found, or who found it,” Wilson said.
Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario could not be reached for comment.
