EAGLE COUNTY ” Eagle County authorities recovered the body of Kremmling snowmobiler John McKibben Thursday morning, after inclement weather in the area postponed the search near Kremmling on Wednesday.

A National Guard Blackhawk helicopter flew in a rescue team from Vail Mountain Rescue to continue the search for McKibben on foot.

A National Guard Blackhawk helicopter assisted airlifting out McKibben’s body. Tim Cochrane, mission coordinator, said the operation went smoothly.

The two surviving members of the party, Craig Morris of Naples, Fla., and Murry Melloni of Littleton, were interviewed by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday in an attempt to pinpoint the location of McKibben’s body.

The men were shown maps of the area where they were found, and it was determined the location of their campsite was about two to three miles down on the west side of Elliot Ridge in Eagle County.
