Dear Editor,
Please join me in thanking Garfield School District Re-2 board member Sally Brands for her eight years of service to the children of our district.
Sally goes above and beyond what the typical board member contributes to their district. She rarely misses the opportunity to be part of committee work, community engagements, staff engagements, school functions, board educational opportunities and much more.
Her brilliant mind and courage to speak out set her apart as a unique and influential educational leader.
Sally has a gift for logic and keen insight that many times over has helped our board when we were faced with making tough decisions.
She always puts children first and truly believes all children can succeed when given the opportunity. Her honest and ethical nature is testimony to her character.
Sally will be greatly missed by her fellow board members.
School board members have enormous responsibility and devote countless hours to their district. They are elected and not paid for their service. Sally is term limited and could not seek re-election this November. We sincerely hope she remains involved with our district as she is a great part of who we are.
