Brett Layne Grant, age 37 died Jan. 13, 2011 in Grand Junction. Born Aug. 28, 1973, Brett grew up in Klamath falls, Oregon, then moved to Reno, Nevada for high school. There he was actively involved in baseball, as an outstanding pitcher. He ventured up to Tahoe to snowboard, and picked up a couple of snowboarding sponsorships with Anarchy and Simms. The Burning Man festival, music and dancing were very important to Brett. He loved going to live shows and reggae festivals.

Brett explored the west for years before following his heart to Aspen to snowboard in 2004. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. As a seasoned outdoorsman, he had a deep respect and understanding of the land and wildlife. Brett was proud to share his knowledge and was always enthusiastic about inviting friends on adventures. When outside doing what he loved, Brett wore an ear-to-ear grin that lit up the mountains.

He is survived by parents, Patricia and Robert Grant; Fiance Teresa Pleak and her children; Sister Lisa Bailey and nephew Rylan Bailey.
