Brewpub wins silver medal at beer festival

The Glenwood Canyon Brewing Co. participated in the 25th annual Great American Beer Festival, at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver last weekend. The brewery, headed by Ken Jones, who is the head brewer and part owner, brought home a silver medal in the European-style dark category with its Storm King- Münchner Dunkel. The Münchner dunkel category had 21 entries from breweries around the country.”It’s a pretty big deal to win a medal here,” Jones said. “When a brewer wins, they wear the medal around for the rest of the festival.”The GABF is put on by the Brewers Association out of Boulder each year, supporting the brewing industry and recognizing the ability of brewers to create great beers. Jones noted that it wouldn’t be possible for him to receive a medal without help from his co-workers.”I think about the others here who don’t have the chance to win medals,” Jones said. “Without them, we wouldn’t be able to win.”The brewery now has five GABF medals; three silvers and two bronze.
