Brosnan speaks at Yampah High today

The Roaring Fork Peace Coalition presents a free lecture by Doris Brosnan, a peace educator from Columbia University. The lecture is 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at Yampah Mountain High School, 695 Red Mountain Drive, Glenwood Springs. Brosnan has facilitated workshop courses in conflict resolution and human rights education, and presented at the International Institute for Peace Education in South Korea and in Turkey. In her talk, “Understanding Peace on Earth,” she will explore our understanding of peace as a process and consider probable, possible and preferred futures for our planet and for humankind.She will share information about Columbia University’s peace education program, and will explore with participants many topics including conflict resolution, human security needs, militarization, globalization, and the roots of violence. Resources and refreshments will be provided as well as time for discussion.
