Bruce Leroy Berry

Bruce Leroy Berry, 65, of Grand Junction, passed away April 11, 2008, at his home.

He was born Sept. 21, 1942, in Denver, to James and Marge (Brown) Berry.

He married Carole La Fleur Aug. 30, 1968, in Denver, and has been an area resident for 35 years.

Bruce served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Basalt Methodist Church, Elks, PPA, Veterans Guard, State Patrol and Basalt El Jebel Fire Board.

He was a Colorado State Patrolman, and worked security at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Bruce is survived by his wife; son Randy (Starla Haynes) Patrick; daughters Juli Schlieve and Jennifer Berry; brother James Berry; mother Marge Berry; grandchildren Travis Haynes, Misty (Shane) Baker and Amanda (Mario) Tarin; and great-grandchildren Ashley, Anthony and Logan.

He was preceded in death by sister Arlene and daughter Terri Hackbarth.

The family asks that donations be sent to Alpine Bank C/O Bruce Berry Memorial Fund.

A visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Basalt Middle School.

Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Denver.
