Bryan Paul Smiley passed away tragically on June 29, 2010 at Valley View Hospital. He was 42.Bryan was born on Nov. 16, 1967 in Lerado, Texas to Douglas and Judith Smiley. In 1969, Bryan moved to Vermont where he grew up and graduated from Windsor High School. He played football and participated in Track & Field. He attended college at Glenview State in West Virginia.He was an amateur gunsmith and marksman – a talent and passion he shared with his dad. He was an Air Force veteran and spent time in Okinawa where he was a jet mechanic.Bryan moved to Glenwood Springs in 1993, where he became and avid cyclist, backcountry and downhill skier. He loved the outdoors and his big red goatee. He worked as a builder and his most recent passion was working at the Flying Dog Forge in Carbondale. Colorado became his true home … he loved this valley and the people in it.Though he left us far too soon, the joy and memories we have of Bryan will live in our hearts forever.Bryan leaves behind his mom, Judy; his father, Doug; two sisters, Tracey and Meredith; his niece, Julia and nephew, Merrik; as well as his large extended Colorado family.Bryan was cremated and arrangements for his final resting place will be announced at a later date.
