Tom and Lisa Rogers of Rifle are new members of the American Angus Association, reports John Crouch, executive vice president of the national breed registry organization in Saint Joseph, Mo.The American Angus Association is the largest beef cattle registry association in the world. Its computerized records include detailed information on more than 14 million registered Angus.The association records ancestral information and keeps production records on individual animals for its members. These permanent records help members select and mate the best animals in their herds to produce high quality, efficient breeding cattle which are then recorded with the American Angus Association.

A free prelicensing training for starting up your own business of home-based child care will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 11-12 in Glenwood Springs. The program will teach about the process, fees and regulations for licensing your home to care for children.Family child-care homes are especially needed in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, El Jebel and Aspen.Register by Aug. 8 at 945-9191, ext. 3066.
