Congratulations Osage Gardens and Tom and Sarah Rumery on your 20th anniversary. Here’s to 20 years of farming. Osage Gardens’ greenhouse operation took root in January 1992 by selling tomatoes to local grocery stores and restaurants. Osage Gardens was growing basil as a side project but quickly realized that there was a high demand for fresh basil. This led the farm to specialize in fresh culinary herbs. After 10 years the farm expanded onto a new piece of land located on the Colorado River between New Castle and Silt.Osage Gardens now grows 22 varieties of culinary herbs and more than 20 varieties of greens and vegetables and still grows tomatoes. Osage Gardens participates in seven local farmers markets, has a year-round free choice CSA Program called Fresh Eats and in 2010 opened The Little Red Farm Store in order to sell vegetables directly from the farm. Many thanks to the community for its ongoing support and to our wonderful employees who continue to work to make local organic food a reality. Here’s to another 20 years.
