After two great years of business in Glenwood, owners Marie Hale and Nicky Soupal of Cakes and Cuffs are closing the doors at 819 Grand. We would like to thank Glenwood for the fun times and for the warm and welcome reception. Everything about the last two years has made us richer for the experience. We have learned so much about ourselves and our community, about what it is like to do business in a small town and in a partnership, about creating and building something beautiful – our fun and quirky business – and the relationships we have made with each other, our wonderful customers and clients, and the incredible peers who have supported us. The decision did not come lightly, it began with a lease decision, not to renew our existing lease with a longer-term commitment. While we have loved being at 819 Grand, the business of baking in our current space is very challenging and as cupcake and larger event sales have increased, it has become even moreso. Also, Nicky, who has managed the store from the onset, has been offered and accepted a great new position, and we are excited for her new opportunity. While we would love to remain in Glenwood, there does not seem to be a space open that would meet the needs of a move, so we have decided to Peace Out, at least for a while. If an opportunity opens up, we would love to serve Glenwood again with the delightful variety of “Sweet Treats” you have graciously allowed us to provide. It has been an honor and a privilege. thank you, thank you.
