Bob Young, chairman of Alpine Bank, was recently recognized in the U.S. House of Representatives as a result of being named a 2008 Benefactor of the Year by the Council for Resource Development.

Young was selected to represent CRD Region VIII, after being nominated by Colorado Mountain College. Region VIII encompasses Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, Alberta, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Saskatchewan.

At a recent board meeting for Alpine Bank, Young learned of the congressional recognition when Alexandra Yajko, chief executive officer of the Colorado Mountain College Foundation, surprised him with a framed certificate and letter signed by Congressman Mark Udall.

The Council for Resource Development, which granted Young the award, is the only professional organization concerned exclusively with fundraising for two-year colleges.

The 10 award recipients were honored at a benefactor awards banquet in Washington, D.C., in November.
