How did your business start?

A salesperson by trade, Susan moved to Rifle in 2002 because she met now-husband Daniel Alvis. Susan’s mom saw a Grand Junction newspaper ad for a Rifle insurance agent. Susan had been working at a different insurance agency for about a year, and jumped at the opportunity.

What do you sell?

All types of insurance products including home, auto, RV, motorcycle, renters, farm, pet, health, life, business, commercial, construction trades, and oil and gas.

Why do you like what you do?

Helping people is at Susan’s core. Susan loves serving customers at her agency. She also volunteers on the Parachute-Battlement Mesa Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors, is president and secretary of the White River Trail Runners ATV/UTV club, and helps out at KSUN FM radio.

What is your strategy for growth in the next year?

To continue offering superior customer service to her clients. Referrals are the best compliment a business owner can receive.

What is the best thing about running a business here?

The commute beauty is unbeatable. As is the balance of work and play. After a long week at the office, Susan loves loading up ATVs and camping gear with husband Dan and hitting the trails at 8,000 feet.
