Patty Lambert, executive director of the Rifle Area Chamber of Commerce, recently completed Institute for Organization Management, an intensive weeklong nonprofit leadership training program at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.Participants attend the one-week sessions, building valuable relationships with others in the industry and creating a network of idea sharing. Through a combination of required courses and electives, students not only enhance their own organizational management skills but add new fuel to their organizations, making them run more efficiently and effectively.

Cripple Creek Backcountry stays on a roll with expansion to Aspen Highlands

Doug Stenclik and Randy Young had a feeling that ski touring — everything from uphilling at ski resorts to more adventuresome trips to the backcountry — would surge in popularity, so in 2011 they took a chance and opened a shop dedicated to the niche sport. It paid off and they have continued to grow. This winter they teamed with Aspen Expeditions to take over retail operations at the base of Aspen Highlands.
