YouthEntity recognizes contributors on Financial Educators Day
Carbondale-based nonprofit YouthEntity recognized the efforts of two financial educators and advocates in the Roaring Fork Valley on Financial Educators Day, the last Friday of April. Ian Bays, president of Alpine Bank’s Carbondale branch, and Danielle Howard, CFP and owner of Wealth By Design. Financial Educators Day recognizes individuals who are actively working to improve the financial capabilities of people in their communities. As contributors to the financial capabilities of youth in our community, they received a Certificate of Appreciation from the National Financial Educators Council.
Ian Bays contributed leadership and participation in launching YouthEntity’s “I am financial knowledge.” program in its early years. His help and support, along with that of virtually all of the employees at his branch, helped make the program the success that it is today. Danielle Howard has a passion for bringing personal financial literacy to people of all ages including kids and has served as a volunteer for YouthEntity. Without dedicated volunteers like her, YouthEntity’s financial literacy programs would not have blossomed as they have. Last academic year, over 1,830 students participated in a personal financial literacy workshop and this number is expected to grow by almost 1,000 students this academic year.
YouthEntity served over 2,700 students last academic year. In addition to personal financial literacy workshops for grades 5 and 8 and high school students, the organization offers ProStart, YouthChefs Baking & Pastry Arts and Design Team for high school students, My Career. My Life. for middle schoolers and Lemonade Day for grades 2-8. YouthEntity is an award-winning nonprofit in Carbondale that provides real-world learning experiences helping students graduate job ready, career ready and life ready.
