How did your business start?

Seeing that Glenwood Springs did not have a lot of nail salons that provide excellent services based on the answers of the residents we decided to open up a new nail salon that looks very professional and relaxing for everybody to come and pamper themselves.

What do you sell?

We provide services such as manicures, pedicures, gel/shellac, acrylics and waxing.

Why do you like what you do?

It’s nice to provide a service to help people pamper themselves. It’s a stress reliever.

What strategy do you use to hire good people?

First we make sure they are qualified and have their licenses — all of our techs have licenses. We also need to know if they have good customer service and how experienced they are.

What is your strategy for growth in the next year?

We hope that based on customer service we gain a long clientele list of residents of Glenwood and also visitors.

What is the best thing about running a business here?

One thing is we don’t really see much competition, and also it’s nice to wake up here because in the mountains there’s fresh air and the people are very nice.

Cripple Creek Backcountry stays on a roll with expansion to Aspen Highlands

December 2, 2019

Doug Stenclik and Randy Young had a feeling that ski touring — everything from uphilling at ski resorts to more adventuresome trips to the backcountry — would surge in popularity, so in 2011 they took a chance and opened a shop dedicated to the niche sport. It paid off and they have continued to grow. This winter they teamed with Aspen Expeditions to take over retail operations at the base of Aspen Highlands.
