How did your business start?
We were looking at investing in a franchise but didn’t like the fact that we weren’t in complete control of our own business decisions. Since BJ (BJ the DJ) and I (sax/keyboard player for “Already Gone” band) have been in the entertainment/party business for many years, we saw an opportunity to expand on our experience, knowledge and network of people we know by opening a retail and e-commerce party store business.
What do you sell?
Goofballs Party Store can provide you with all your party supplies like balloons, plates, napkins, cups, piñatas, etc., for all your specific party themes. We can customize your party supplies order to meet your specific events criteria. We can also deliver to your location upon request.
Why do you like what you do?
Being in the party business is fun. We see the smiles on our customers faces when they walk into our store, especially the kids. The atmosphere of our store puts people in a happy fun mood, and it is contagious. We love being around the positive happy people that come into our store, and being able to help them with their event is always self rewarding.
What strategy do you use to hire good people?
Our employees must have a positive, fun and outgoing personality with outstanding customer service skills. Our customers are very important to us, and we want their experience at Goofballs Party Store to always be a good, memorable one. We believe in the “Golden Rule” of treating people as we would want to be treated, and we carry that philosophy onto our employees as well.
What is your strategy for growth in the next year?
Networking with other local businesses in our community, word-of-mouth and launching our e-commerce website will be part of our growth strategy for 2016.
What is the best thing about running a business here?
We love being based in the beautiful mountain town of Glenwood Springs. The people of our community along with the beauty of the Colorado mountains makes this the perfect place for us to live and run our business.
