Sammy’s on Park Avenue in Rifle has served its last meal

A longtime favorite Rifle restaurant, Sammy’s on Park Avenue and Rifle Brewing Co., closed its doors on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The popular site for fine food, including weekly prime rib meals on Fridays and Saturdays for much of its 16 years in business, was a Local’s Choice winner several times.

A brief recording on the phone answering machine at the restaurant, 412 Park Ave., says Sammy’s had closed on Oct. 19 and thanked “all our wonderful patrons who provided all the great memories.”

The Rifle Brewing Co., a local micobrewery, was established at the restaurant in 2008. Its beers had won several awards in home and microbrew competitions.

Restaurant officials could not be reached for further comment.
