Glenwood Springs Subaru and Subaru of America on April 6 presented a check for $8,000 to the nonprofit Raising A Reader Aspen to Parachute. Each year during the year-end holiday season, Subaru of America pledges a $250 Share the Love donation for every new car sold during the six-week holiday period.

In addition to four national organizations chosen by Subaru of America, the “Hometown Charity” program allows each retailer to select a local charity to be added to the list of organizations customers can select for a donation.

“We are thrilled that local Subaru buyers chose us often enough to generate $8,000 in support,” said Rick Blauvelt, executive director of Raising A Reader Aspen to Parachute.

Raising A Reader prepares young children for success in school by providing a weekly book bag for 1,800 local children and their families, among other activities.

During the past 20 years, Subaru of America has contributed more than $90 million to charities. This year’s national charities included ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels America and National Park Foundation. Subaru Share the Love takes place at more than 600 Subaru retailers nationwide.
