There’s a new slice in town

Jess and Doug Jacobson celebrated their dream Saturday with the grand opening of Rocky Mountain Pizza Co. at 205 Eighth St. in Glenwood Springs. They say the family-centered restaurant is a little different from similar places.
Jess said one of the differences is their focus on using the freshest, “cleanest” ingredients available, such as fresh, never frozen, Boulder Sausage. They support sustainability by using Wheat Montana flour and also use non-GMO products wherever available.
Something else setting Rocky Mountain Pizza Co. apart is the lack of televisions in the restaurant. Jess said, “We’re pretty old school and encourage people to listen to music and carry on real conversations.” In fact, their music is provided by an old-time juke box that was originally in the Pour House in Carbondale.
The Jacobsons had saved a starter fund but needed an additional $35,000 to open Rocky Mountain Pizza Co. That is a small amount by business loan standards, and conventional funding was elusive, so Doug researched alternatives. The Small Business Development Center in Grand Junction put him in contact with Anita Cameron, director of business lending at the Northwest Loan Fund.
The process worked for the Jacobsons, and they made their dream business a reality.
Rocky Mountain Pizza Co. offers pizza by the slice or by the pie, salads and sandwiches such as the Rocky Mountain Cheese Steak.
