Cajun Clay Night to spice up Carbondale Clay Center

Get ready for the pottery party of the year at Cajun Clay Night Saturday at the Carbondale Clay Center.Activities and attractions for the annual event include live music, children’s games with prizes, a costume contest, appetizers from local chefs and friends, a cash bar, DJ Skip and his sound machine, adult games, handmade bowls filled with gumbo, as well as and rice and beans and salad and bread, the famous Crocodillyicious cake, a coffee bar, and live and silent auctions.Children’s games start at 5 p.m., and the bar opens and a Cajun band takes the stage at 6 p.m. Tickets are $45 for adults, $35 for kids, or $40 and $30 before the day of event.The event needs volunteers for clean-up and setup, decoration, food pickup and presentation, bartending, games, cleanup and take-down, and more. Volunteers work at least four hours and get free admission in exchange. Volunteers who work at least six hours receive a handmade bowl.Donations are accepted for food, art and other auction items. Donors receive tax deduction and recognition. Forms are available in the Clay Center’s office.
